Poured bleach in my sink at a rental cabin in Gatlinburg and it ate through the plastic dish rack

I was scrubbing a greasy cast iron skillet at a cabin we rented for my sister's wedding weekend (back in April) and figured a quick bleach soak would sanitize everything in sight. Came back 15 minutes later to find the cheap plastic dish rack cracked and flaking bits into my sponge water. Has anyone else had a cleaner or chemical mess up their dish setup when you were just trying to get things extra clean?

Bleach is literally made to disinfect and break down organic gunk, not cheap plastic.

Honestly I'm kinda on the other side of this one. Bleach is strong stuff and if you're pouring it straight into a cheap plastic dish rack you kinda gotta expect it to not hold up. Those rental cabins always have the flimsiest stuff and bleach eats through plastic like nothing. It's not really the cleaner's fault, it's more about knowing what you're working with. Next time just dilute it more or use a metal rack if you're gonna go hard on the sanitizing.
