I finally stopped telling myself I had to be 'over it' by a certain date
I kept seeing people online say you should be fine after a year, but my lawyer in Phoenix told me that's a myth and everyone's timeline is different. Has anyone else felt pressured by an imaginary deadline for their own feelings?

A year? That's a crazy short timeline.

Yo chill, is it really that deep? I feel like people act like a year is some impossible deadline but honestly if you can't figure your life out in 365 days that's kind of on you. Like nobody's saying you gotta have everything perfect by then, just enough of a plan to not be totally lost. We've all got friends who've been "figuring things out" for 5 years and still live with their parents playing video games all day, so a year seems generous to me. Plus most jobs and programs work on yearly cycles anyway, so you're basically just syncing up with reality.

Simonl11 is right, that is crazy short. Where did this one year rule even come from? It just adds more stress when you're already dealing with a lot.
