My sister told me 'just give it 6 months' and I thought she was crazy

When I first filed for divorce, my older sister kept saying I needed to wait half a year before making any big decisions. I was like, you don't get it, I want to sell the house and move states right now. Well it's been about 8 months now and I'm still in the same town, still in the same house, and honestly I'm glad I didn't do anything drastic. Has anyone else had a relative give them advice that actually ended up being spot on?

Actually it's wild how often that advice ends up being right. My mom told me to wait a year before adopting a dog after my breakup and I was so annoyed but now I'm glad I didn't rush into it. Six months is like the bare minimum for your brain to catch up with your emotions.

My brother got a puppy three days after his divorce and that dog's basically the only reason he's okay now honestly.
