Setting up a separate email for all the divorce paperwork was a game changer
About three years ago, when I was starting the process in Seattle, my lawyer suggested I make a new Gmail account just for this stuff. I called it something like 'owensdocuments2021' and gave that address to my lawyer, the court, and my ex's lawyer. It kept all the legal letters, PDFs, and calendar invites in one spot and out of my main inbox, which was already a mess. Has anyone else done something like this, or found another way to keep the mountain of paperwork from taking over your whole life?

Oh man, that's such a smart move. I did the same thing but I also went a step further and got one of those cheap accordion folders, the kind with like twelve tabs. I labeled each section for something different, like 'financials', 'court dates', 'housing stuff'. Every time I got a PDF in that email, I'd print it and file it right away. It stopped me from having a panic attack looking for a single piece of paper in a giant stack. Having it all in one email and one physical spot saved my sanity.

Nice! I always wondered if printing everything was worth the hassle. What do you do with the papers after your case is totally done? Do you keep the whole folder for a while or do you shred it all? I have a box of old paperwork I'm scared to throw out.

The accordion folder is a game changer. I even color code my tabs now because my brain needs that extra level of order.
