The text message trick that stopped my divorce panic attacks

I was spiraling every night after I filed. Couldn't sleep. Kept replaying every fight. My therapist told me to text myself one thing I did right that day. Just one sentence before bed. I thought it was stupid but I tried it. After 3 weeks I actually started sleeping through the night. Has anyone else tried something small like that that actually helped?

Thing is, people think you need some huge dramatic fix for everything. But small habits stack up way more than people realize. You're basically retraining your brain to look for the good instead of just sitting in the bad. It's the same reason why cleaning one counter helps you clean the whole kitchen, or why getting dressed makes you feel more productive. Your brain just follows whatever pattern you give it, even if the pattern feels stupid at first. Three weeks of tiny wins beats three years of waiting for the big one.

paige427 nailed it, I started making my bed every morning last month and now I'm meal prepping on Sundays like it's nothing. Funny how one tiny habit just flips a switch in your brain.
