Finally switched from cheap latex to urethane caulk for window trim
Used to just grab whatever $2 tube of latex caulk was on sale at Home Depot. Chalked up all 12 windows in my rental house with it over two weekends last summer. Now every single one of them has cracks and gaps around the edges after one winter. Just finished scraping it all out and redoing it with big stretch urethane at $8 a tube. Wish I had just paid the extra 6 bucks the first time around. Anyone else have luck with a specific brand that actually lasts?

Saw a building inspector's channel on YouTube that said urethane caulk is basically the only thing that holds up on window trim around here. He was pretty clear about it - latex is just asking for trouble.

A buddy of mine thought he'd save a few bucks and used latex on his new bay windows last fall. @logan205 by February the seal was already pulling away and he had water stains in the drywall underneath. Switched to urethane after that and hasn't touched it since.
