Fixed a leaky outdoor spigot after three tries
Last Saturday I noticed water pooling around the spigot on the side of my house. Turned out the vacuum breaker inside had failed and was dripping slowly. I took it apart, replaced the rubber washer, put it back together, and it still leaked. On the third try I found a small crack in the plastic housing that I missed. I picked up a replacement vacuum breaker for $8 at the hardware store and now it works fine. Anyone else ever have a simple fix turn into a whole afternoon project?

Heard a plumber say most outdoor spigot leaks are just bad rubber washers, so that tracks.

Cheaper than replacin' the whole thing, isn't it?
