Had to choose between laminate and LVP for our basement floor after the last rain
We had a small flood in our basement last spring, and I was stuck deciding between cheap laminate or pricier luxury vinyl planks. I went with LVP at $3.50 a square foot because it's waterproof and my buddy said laminate would swell up again. Did anyone else pick one and regret it later?

Oh man, that's funny you mention that. My buddy went with laminate in his basement bar and now it's all wrinkled up in the corners from one little leak. He keeps saying he wishes he'd just spent the extra cash on LVP.

Yeah @patb12 that's exactly it. My cousin did laminate in his kitchen and a kid spilled a fish tank, total nightmare. The boards swelled up at the seams and looked terrible. He tried to sand and reseal some of it but it never matched right. With LVP you can practically flood the place and it just wipes up. No contest really, especially in a basement or any room that sees water.

Went with LVP after a similar scare and zero regrets three years later. The waterproof peace of mind is worth every penny when you're worrying about the next storm.
