My neighbor Bob showed me a trick for fixing a leaky faucet with a $2 part

I was at Bob's house last Saturday helping him swap out his kitchen faucet. He told me that most leaks happen from a worn out O-ring, not the whole faucet assembly. He walked me through taking it apart, and sure enough, a dried up rubber ring was the problem. A quick trip to Ace Hardware for a new O-ring pack cost me under two bucks. Anyone else ever fixed a faucet with just a rubber ring instead of buying a whole new one?

Oh man that brings back memories. My dad tried to fix a leaky faucet that way once and ended up flooding the kitchen cause he forgot to turn the water off at the valve lol

Oh man that's rough lmao. My uncle did the same thing but with the main water line to the whole house. Flooded the basement so bad we had to rent a pump to get all the water out. He still brags about how fast he fixed the leak though, just conveniently leaves out the part where he turned the whole basement into a swimming pool for a day lol.
