Had to choose between my basement and my backyard for water storage

I went with the backyard using those $20 55-gallon blue barrels because my basement flooded last spring and ruined all my canned goods. Has anyone else dealt with choosing between two bad spots for emergency supplies?

Those $20 55-gallon blue barrels" - you mean the ones that held pickle brine or soda syrup? Hope you cleaned them out good first, or your emergency water is gonna taste like old pickles for a year.

Bleach soak and triple rinse does the trick every time.
