That prepper on YouTube said to stockpile ammo first, I think he's nuts

I was watching this channel last night where the guy says buy guns and ammo before water or food. I live in a townhouse in Philly, what am I gonna do, shoot a drought? I got 3 cases of canned beans and a rain barrel in my backyard for under $60 total. That's way more useful than 500 rounds of 9mm sitting in a closet. Ammo doesn't fill your belly when the grocery store runs out for a week. Who else thinks people overhype the gun stuff for regular folks like us?

Honestly, I get where you're coming from. That gun nut stuff is overkill for most people, especially in a city. I'd rather have a case of beans than a box of bullets any day, the rain barrel is actually smart too. Ngl, people watch too much doomsday TV and think they're Rambo.

Totally agree with you on the "doomsday TV" thing, that's exactly it. People binge one season of some show and suddenly they're buying ammo crates like it's Black Friday every week. I've seen folks spend hundreds on gun accessories when that same cash could grab a good water filter or some freeze dried veggies (which, by the way, actually last for years and don't take up a whole closet). A rain barrel and some beans feel way more practical for the average person living in a row home or apartment, you know? Meanwhile that ammo just sits there collecting dust until you either sell it at a loss or end up shooting it for fun (which is fine, just don't call it prepping).
