My piercer friend told me I was using the wrong jewelry material and now I'm second guessing everything
Was chatting with my buddy who does piercing at a shop in Portland last weekend, and she saw the titanium rings I got from Amazon for my helix piercings. She said they're probably cheap alloy with a coating, not real implant grade. I've been wearing them for 6 months with no issues, but now I'm worried about long term stuff. Has anyone actually had problems with cheaper jewelry down the line, or is it fine if your ears aren't angry about it?

My wallet would be happier if my ears didn't have expensive taste.

I've had $5 mystery metal hoops in my lobes for like 3 years straight and my ears are still fine. I'm pretty skeptical about how serious it actually is. Like, sure, if you're getting green earlobes or puss or whatever, switch it out. But @jake_owens is scaring people for no reason, man. "Years later" - what's gonna happen, your ear turns into a pumpkin? I'd worry about it if you start seeing signs, not just because someone says so.
