Switched from store bought piercing needles to surgical grade ones.
Used to just grab whatever from the craft store. Thought it was fine. Then a buddy's piercing got infected bad. Hospital bill was $800. Switched to proper single use surgical needles after that. No issues since. Anyone else cheap out on tools and regret it?

Learned that lesson the hard way too. Never cheap out on stuff going through your skin.

The whole "surgical grade" thing gets thrown around a lot but it's actually not a real medical standard. Real piercing needles are medical grade, which is a regulated term for stuff that's sterile and single use. Not trying to be that guy, just saying it's worth checking for the right certification instead of just trusting the label.
