Appreciation post: the day my $12 dryer belt saved laundry day
Last Tuesday my dryer stopped mid cycle and started making this awful grinding noise. I looked up the model online and found the belt had snapped, so I grabbed a replacement for 12 bucks at the local Ace Hardware. Took me about 45 minutes with a screwdriver and some YouTube help to swap it out, and now it runs quieter than ever. Has anyone else had a cheap part fix something that seemed like a total loss?

Oh man that reminds me of my buddy Dave. His washing machine started shaking like crazy during the spin cycle. Sounded like a helicopter was landing in his kitchen. He was ready to drop 800 bucks on a new machine. I told him to just look up the problem on YouTube first. Turns out it was just some worn out suspension springs. Cost him like 15 bucks total and an hour of his Saturday. Thing works perfect now. Saved himself a ton of money just like you did.

Laughing at @spencerm46 mentioning the helicopter sound because YES, that's exactly what ours did too. I thought our machine was about to take off and fly through the roof lol. It's wild how such a cheap little nylon belt can make the difference between a working dryer and a paperweight. Honestly makes me wonder how many perfectly good appliances end up in the dump just because nobody knows how to look up a YouTube video or grab a $12 part. Feels good to save that cash and keep stuff running longer you know.
