Finally fixed that sticking toilet handle with a zip tie
Was at a friend's place in Austin last weekend and their bathroom had the same annoying issue - handle would stick halfway. I noticed the rubber gasket inside was just slightly warped so I put a zip tie around the stem to add pressure, cost maybe a nickel. Has anyone else used random hardware store parts to fix toilet problems?

paulw87, the "that's wild" part is what gets me. I actually read a thread somewhere where a guy did this to prank his roommate after a party. He zipped it around the float chain inside the tank, and the toilet would run for like 10 minutes after every flush until they found it. Pretty clever but also a jerk move if you ask me. Have you ever tried anything like that?
