Fixed my squeaky garage door with a candle stub and zip ties

Was at my buddy's place in St. Louis last fall helping him patch his drywall, and his garage door was screaming every time he opened it. I grabbed a half-burned candle from his junk drawer, rubbed the wax on the tracks, and used a couple zip ties to snug up a loose bracket. Thing runs quiet as a mouse now and cost exactly zero bucks. Anybody else got weird garage hacks that actually work better than the real fix?

Wait, hold up - you used a half-burned candle from a junk drawer? lmao that's wild. I've done the zip tie thing before but just rubbing wax on the tracks never even crossed my mind. I had a garage door that sounded like a dying cat and I bought some expensive spray lubricant that barely helped, bet a candle would have worked just as well.

Nah the candle trick is legit for tracks. Just gotta make sure it's plain wax, not a scented one with oils that'll gum things up later.

Is it REALLY that deep though? Some squeaky hinges are just a minor annoyance you can live with for months. Honestly @josephl67, if the expensive spray didn't work, maybe your door just needs a new belt or something beyond candle wax.
