Heard a guy at Home Depot say duct tape fixes everything, but his truck was held together with zip ties
That got me thinking... is duct tape REALLY the universal fix, or are zip ties the unsung hero? I fixed a broken fence latch with six zip ties last month and it's still holding. What's your go to cheap fix that people overlook?

Hang on, I gotta push back on this a bit. Zip ties are great and all but they have a real bad habit of getting brittle in the sun and snapping when you least expect it. I tried using them to hold a piece of trim on my car bumper last summer and within like two months the whole thing was flapping in the wind again. Duct tape at least gives you some flexibility and sticks to itself so you can build up layers if you need to. Plus duct tape doesn't leave sharp little plastic edges everywhere when it breaks, those zip tie nubs can really cut you if you're not careful. And honestly how many times have you tried to cinch a zip tie down tight and it just slips or you break the little tab off and now you're stuck with a useless piece of plastic? Duct tape is way more forgiving.

Used zip ties to fix my lawn chair last week... now it's the sturdiest thing I own.

Bought a 100-pack of zip ties last spring @hayden709 and I've fixed three chairs, a broken fence gate, and my kid's toy truck with them so far. Best dollar I ever spent.
