Last week my garage door spring snapped and I fixed it with a $12 harbor freight tool instead of calling the $400 repair guy
Spent a sweaty afternoon watching youtube videos and nearly lost a finger when the tension rod slipped, but that door has been opening smooth as butter for 4 days now, anyone else ever gamble on a garage spring replacement?

Heard a horror story from a guy on another forum who put his spring on backwards and it shot through his drywall. Glad yours worked out but man that stuff scares me.

Ha yeah man I feel that. My dumb ass would probably end up launching a spring through my TV or something. Glad we both lived to tell the tale lol.
