Broke a 12-inch PVC pipe coupling because I didn't listen to my neighbor
My neighbor Bob told me to use primer on all PVC joints, but I thought I could skip it for a quick sprinkler fix last Saturday. The pipe blew apart at 6 AM the next morning and flooded half my front yard before I got out there. Has anyone else had a simple plumbing shortcut backfire like that?
Oh man, that's rough. Tbh I did the same thing with a sharkbite fitting once - thought I could just push it on dry and call it good. Nope. Woke up to a water hammer at 3 AM that popped it right off and soaked my crawlspace. Bob was probably trying to save you from a 6 AM sprinkler tsunami, but you had to learn the hard way like the rest of us.
Bob was probably trying to save you from a 6 AM sprinkler tsunami" Haha yeah, but did he actually warn you beforehand or just give you the stink eye? Like, did he TELL you to wet the pipe or was it one of those "everyone knows that" things?
