Fixed a squeaky floor in my rental for $3 using baby powder

My apartment had this one spot near the kitchen that squeaked every single time you stepped on it. Drove me nuts for like 4 months. Landlord said he'd get to it eventually but never did. So I looked up cheap fixes online and found this tip to just dust baby powder into the gaps between the floorboards. Grabbed a travel size bottle from the dollar store for $3, shook it into the cracks, and stepped on it a bunch to work it in. Squeak is totally gone and it's been 2 weeks now. Has anyone else tried something random like that and had it actually hold up?

Is a squeaky floor really that big of a deal though lmao? Like sure it's annoying but $3 and 30 seconds seems like a lot of effort for something that barely matters.

caleb_stone calling 30 seconds and $3 "a lot of effort" is wild to me. That's like the bare minimum amount of effort you could possibly put into anything. If dropping three bucks into a floor gap saves you from hearing creak-creak-creak every time you walk to the fridge, I'd say that's pretty solid return on investment.

Does that trick work on any other creaky floorboards besides just the squeaky spots?
