My rusted bathroom fan finally died after 8 years - here's the $12 fix that's been running quiet for 3 months

Pulled the old unit out of the ceiling last April and found a universal motor kit at Ace Hardware that bolted right in, no wiring changes needed, and it's been humming along like new since then - has anyone else tried swapping just the motor instead of the whole fan housing?

Nah, you're overthinking it. I did mine last year with a generic motor off Amazon for like $15. Straight swap, no drama. Your bathroom isn't cursed, just stop buying the wrong size.

I mean, $12 and no wiring changes sounds way too good to be true for my cursed bathroom where nothing ever fits right. Mine would probably end up humming along... until it hummed its last and took the rest of the house with it.
