Our utility room went from always smelling damp to bone dry after I put a box fan on a 4-hour timer

Was fighting mildew for about 6 months before I noticed the humidity spike every night when the AC cycled off. $15 timer and a fan pointed at the water heater corner solved it completely - has anyone else found a single room that causes all their moisture problems?

Same here, putting a cheap fan on a timer by the crawlspace door killed all our musty smells in a week.

Did you pair it with a dehumidifier or just run the fan solo? I'm thinking about doing this in my basement but worried mold might come back in the summer. A timer setup sounds a lot easier than having to remember to turn it on every day.
