Warning: Stop using duct tape to fix dryer vents

I keep seeing people patch dryer vent joints with duct tape and it drives me crazy. It dries out and fails in like 6 months, I just had to redo a whole run at a rental property that was practically falling apart. Has anyone else had to deal with the aftermath of this hack?

Ugh, I feel your pain so much. It's wild how people think duct tape is the fix for everything when it just crumbles on you like that.

Seen this exact mess at least a dozen times. That silver tape turns into dust after a few months, especially in attics where it gets hot. Real UL rated foil tape costs like five bucks a roll and actually sticks for years. The worst part is when the tape fails inside a ceiling and nobody catches it until the lint builds up everywhere. Just use metal tape and save yourself the fire hazard.
