Borrowed a neighbor's clamp for a deck board

It made the job much easier than I expected. Do you swap tools with people on your street?

My street has a shared lawnmower that gets passed around like a community cookie tin. We swap tools all the time, which saves everyone money and garage space. I'm mostly on the borrowing end because my own tools are a sad mix of duct tape and hope. Last week I returned a drill with sawdust in it, which my neighbor just laughed about. It builds a nice sense of trust, even if my contributions are mostly apologies for broken bits. Honestly, without this system, my deck would still be missing boards.

Back in my last apartment complex, we had a community ladder that everyone used. @lee459, your system sounds even better with all those tools getting passed around. I was always the guy borrowing stuff too, and my apologies were pretty much a weekly thing. It really does build trust when people don't get mad about sawdust or broken bits. Honestly, more neighborhoods should try this instead of everyone buying their own junk.

Wait, a COMMUNITY LADDER? @leos89 that's wild to me, those things are a lawsuit waiting to happen. It's one thing to share a wrench, but a whole ladder? That's next level trust right there. Your old complex must have had some seriously chill people. I'm totally with you though, the tool pass-around system is the best. It just makes the whole street feel more like actual neighbors instead of strangers who live next door.
