My bathroom tile project turned into a 3 day puzzle because of one weird cut

I was putting up subway tile behind my sink in the master bath and needed a tiny piece to fit around a pipe. I figured it would take maybe 20 minutes with my wet saw. I spent the next 72 hours trying to get the angle right, going through almost a whole box of tile. Has anyone else had a simple cut just refuse to work?

My buddy had the same thing happen with a corner piece on his kitchen backsplash. He went through so many tiles his wife started calling it the ceramic graveyard. Some cuts just have a mind of their own.

Did he ever figure out what was causing it? I mean, was it the saw or just a tricky tile type?

Actually it was a bad blade, not the tile or saw itself.
