Tried painting my kitchen cabinets without sanding first. Huge mistake.
Watched a YouTube video that swore by liquid deglosser and a good cleaning. Spent 4 hours on Saturday prepping with that stuff, applied two coats of Sherwin-Williams Emerald urethane enamel. By Wednesday the paint was peeling off around the handles. Lost about $60 in paint and my wife won't let me forget it. Anyone else get burned by a shortcut on cabinet refinishing?

Used Zinsser liquid deglosser on my bathroom vanity two years ago. Still holding up fine. Maybe the Sherwin-Williams stuff just doesn't bond well with it. Or you didn't clean off all the deglosser residue before painting.

Two years isn't that long for paint. Come back in five years and tell me it's still holding.

The Sherwin-Williams Emerald is a great paint, but I bet the issue is with how the deglosser sat on the old finish. @betty_palmer mentioned she used Zinsser, which is a different formula than the stuff from Sherwin. Did you use a tack cloth after cleaning with the deglosser? I've had residue from liquid deglossers cause adhesion problems before, especially if you don't wipe it down with mineral spirits afterward. It's a real pain, but sanding between coats of that stuff can also help lock it in.
