A contractor in Fresno said my site plan details were 'overkill'

He argued that the city only needs the basics and extra detail just invites more review comments. I've always believed more detail prevents callbacks. Where do you all land on this?

Exactly... more detail just gives them more to say no about.

Used to pack my plans with every detail, thinking it showed I did my homework. Then a city planner told me straight up that extra notes on soil types outside the work area just gave them more to check, slowing everything down. Now I give them exactly what the code asks for, nothing more. Found my projects move faster through review that way. What kind of details was your contractor calling overkill?

So did you ever get pushback from engineers who expected all that extra detail?
