A small change to my ladder line setup that made a big difference
For years, I just ran my ladder line straight down the side of the ladder, letting it flop around. Last month, I saw an operator on a job in Galveston using a simple trick: he looped the line once around the bottom rung before it went to the pump. I tried it on my next job, and it cut down on the line twisting and kinking by a huge amount. It's such a simple thing, but it saved me from having to stop and untangle the line three times that day. Has anyone else found a little trick like that for managing lines?

Yo honestly taylor668 is totally right about that setup thinking thing. Its like an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure when it comes to lines and cords. Just a tiny adjustment at the start saves you from pulling your hair out later.

That Galveston operator was onto something. I mean, it's wild how often the best fix for a problem is just one small, smart move like that loop. I see it all the time with extension cords and garden hoses too, where a single extra twist or loop before you start stops a huge mess later. It's like a little bit of setup thinking saves you from a ton of hassle.

Honestly, that "little bit of setup thinking" can waste a ton of time. Overthinking the setup is its own hassle. Most of the time, you just need to start pulling the cord or hose and deal with a simple knot if it happens. Planning for every possible tangle slows you down more than just fixing the occasional mess.
