Switched to marking my dredge depth adjustments with chalk, and it cut my setup time

I used to just guess the depth settings when getting the dredge ready for a new section. Last month, I started using chalk to mark the boom position on the depth gauge every time I set it. Now I can replicate the exact settings fast, and I save about 20 minutes each setup, lol. Do you have any other simple tricks for keeping operations consistent?

Wild, that chalk trick is smart. Reminds me of when I started keeping my wrenches in the same pocket every time, stopped wasting ten minutes looking for the right one.

Yeah, colored tape on the control levers works great for quick visual checks too. I use different colors for different common depth ranges so I don't even have to look at the gauge sometimes. Saves a ton of brain power over a long day.

Seems like a lot of work just to avoid glancing at a gauge.
