Figured out a quicker way to fish wire through old insulation
I spent like 2 hours fighting with fiberglass batts in a 1950s house near Denver last Tuesday. I tried a glow rod but it kept getting hung up, then I just taped a plastic bag over the end of my fish tape and it slid right through. Has anyone else used that trick on fluffy insulation?

Tape and a plastic bag beats my usual trick of just swearing at it until my wife asks if I'm okay.

You ever try yelling at it from the NEXT room?

Haha oh man that bag trick is a lifesaver. I tried something similar once with an old house and ended up using a grocery bag that still had a receipt in it. The receipt got stuck somewhere and I swear it was like pulling a stubborn receipt out of a printer for 20 minutes. But the plastic bag itself worked way better than I expected. I also tried using a vacuum cleaner hose once to suck the tape through but that just made a mess of insulation dust everywhere. Your trick is way smarter honestly.
