Ran a 200-foot underground feed with aluminum for a shed install versus copper... the cost difference was over $800.

Did you check the local code for aluminum wire size rules?

Local code is the bare minimum. I always go a size up with aluminum no matter what the book says. It's about heat and long term connections, not just passing inspection. Seen too many failed terminations that technically met code.

Man, that's everywhere now. Just doing the bare minimum to check the box. Like my neighbor's deck. Passed inspection, but the posts are already sinking. Code is the floor, not the ceiling.
