Finally fixed that persistent flicker on a 2017 iMac screen
Was in my garage shop yesterday, ready to give up after reflowing the backlight driver twice. On a whim, I swapped the LED strip from a donor board and the screen came up perfect. Anyone have a better source for those specific LG strips besides the usual suppliers?

Hey, I saw a forum post last week where someone got a perfect strip from a random electronics recycler!

That "perfect strip" story reminds me of my buddy Dave. He went to a local scrap yard on a total whim, just to look around, and ended up finding a nearly full roll of vintage cloth wire wrap. The owner just threw it in for free with some other bits. It was one of those right place, right time moments, @robertgreen. Those random finds are getting so rare now, but they still happen. Makes you want to go check every sketchy shed with a "recycling" sign.

That "right place, right time" thing oscarb77 mentioned is so true, robertgreen. It's like the universe just drops a little gift sometimes. I found a full box of old ceramic capacitors at a garage sale last year, just sitting in a damp cardboard box marked "junk." The guy sold me the whole thing for two bucks. Those random lucky finds feel like they're balancing out all the times you go looking and find absolutely nothing.
