Honestly, the number of people who think a 'hard reset' means holding the power button for 30 seconds is wild
I saw a video where a guy insisted this was the 'pro' method, but that's just a forced shutdown and can corrupt data. Has anyone else had to explain the actual button combo to a customer recently?

Corrupt data is not dramatic at all, it's a real risk. That forced shutdown can wreck a file being saved or an update in the middle of installing. Then you get a computer that won't boot properly. People should learn the right way, which is holding the power button for like five seconds max. Why take the chance when the proper method is just as easy?

Corrupt data" feels a bit dramatic for a one-time thing. Most people just need their frozen laptop to turn off, and it works fine for that.

Okay but "most people just need their frozen laptop to turn off"... what about the times they don't? Like when it's actually doing something important in the background. How do you know it's safe to cut power if you can't see what it's doing?
