Reflowing BGA chips was a nightmare until I tweaked my technique

I was messing up left and right, burning pads and everything. Then I read about using a preheater to slowly warm the board first, and it clicked for me. How do you guys handle these tricky solder jobs?

Preheating is key unless you want burnt pads lol.

Yeah totally learned that the hard way last week. I was in a rush and threw my cookies in before the oven beeped. The bottoms got so dark they were basically charcoal while the middles were still raw dough. Such a waste of good chocolate chips. Now I won't even open the oven door until that light goes off. It really does make all the difference for how things bake evenly.

Last Tuesday, I saw a board where the pads were completely lifted from no preheat... It looked like a war zone under my microscope. Now I never skip that step.
