Spent $80 on a thermal camera attachment for my phone... it's saved me so much time finding shorts.

Splice a piece of electrical tape over the lens when you're not using it, saves the battery life. @sammoore, if you're looking for shorts in the laundry, you could probably just check the tag for that heat signature difference, ha. I downloaded a free app that lets me adjust the contrast manually, way more useful than the default settings for finding stuff like that.
