A 20-year-old governor rope snapped on me last Thursday
It was on a standard traction job in a three-story office building. The rope looked fine during the monthly check, but it gave way during a full speed test run. We had to lock out the machine and replace the entire set, which took the better part of a day. The building manager was not happy about the downtime. Has anyone else seen a governor rope fail that suddenly without obvious wear?
