I finally swapped from the standard 3/8 drive impact to a 1/2 inch for stubborn sheave bolts on a 15-year-old traction job in Tacoma, and the extra torque broke them free in seconds after I'd been fighting them for an hour.
Has anyone else found a specific tool upgrade that saved your skin on a routine job that was fighting back?

A 15-year-old Tacoma job? That's a serious workout! Upgrading to the half-inch drive makes total sense, those old sheave bolts can weld themselves in place. I'm with @thomas.tyler on the breaker bar love, but sometimes you just need that brute impact force. It's crazy how one tool change can turn a whole day of frustration into a five-minute fix. My old 3/8 gun just clicks and heats things up when it gets truly nasty.

My buddy's breaker bar saved a whole transmission swap.

Yeah, a good breaker bar is a lifesaver. I read a forum post where a guy said his snapped a seized caliper bolt free when a regular ratchet just rounded it off. That one tool turned a nightmare job into just swapping the part. Makes you wonder how many projects get saved by having the right simple tool.

I used to think breaker bars were overkill, but that "nightmare job" story changed my mind.
