Just realized my whole approach to adjusting door zones changed after a job in Spokane
For years, I'd always set the door zone with the car at the floor and a feeler gauge, which took forever. On a retrofit in Spokane last fall, the lead mechanic showed me how to use a laser level from the pit to project a line up the guide rails while the car is parked at the top landing. It cut the setup time from about 45 minutes down to maybe 10. The laser gives you a perfect vertical reference for all the doors at once. Has anyone else switched to a laser for zoning, or do you still swear by the old hands-on method?

Wait, you used to do it with the car DOWN?

My old 2004 Civic had a manual sunroof. You had to crank it open by hand. Took forever. Doing it with the car down was the only way to get any breeze. Kids with power sunroofs will never know the struggle.

Oh man, that laser trick is a total game changer! We did the same old feeler gauge dance for ages until a guy on a site in Tacoma showed me his laser setup. Suddenly lining up those guide rails went from a huge headache to just a few minutes of work. It feels like cheating compared to the old way. That Spokane mechanic knows what's up.
