PSA: A building manager in Dallas told me they had a call-back because someone greased the governor rope.
He said the tech used a spray lube on the sheave area and overspray coated the rope, which messed with the tension reading and caused a nuisance trip, so now I double-check my rag placement before any lubrication near that assembly.

My buddy's rig did that once. Total mess.

Remember it depends on the setup. A good cooling system and proper paste application prevents that. His experience sounds like an outlier.

The mounting pressure from the heatsink bracket can be a factor. If it's uneven, it can squeeze paste out over time like a tube of toothpaste. That's a hardware design flaw, not just a bad paste job.
