Question about elevator door closing force limits

I was reading through an old code book from the 90s and saw that the max closing force for power operated doors is 30 pounds. I always thought it was lower, like 15. Found it in a section about safety edges and reopening devices. It made me check a few units I service, and sure enough, some were set way too high. Anyone else run into doors that feel like they're pushing too hard? How do you usually test and adjust that force setting?

Right? Those old codes are wild. Had a door last week that felt like it was trying to shove you back into the hallway. Used a basic luggage scale on the door edge to check, and it was pushing almost 40 pounds. No wonder people were getting their bags stuck all the time. Took forever to find the adjustment on that old controller.

That 30 pound limit from the 90s is a SHOCKING number to see in writing.

Oh man, @perez.patricia, that reminds me of the ancient computer monitors we had to lift in school.
