Relay guy facing a digital elevator panel

I cut my teeth on elevators with basic relay setups. Now I'm staring at a circuit board full of chips, and my usual fixes don't apply. What's a good first step to understand these new controllers?

Cut my teeth" reminds me of working on my old car's carburetor. Felt like a wizard until everything went fuel injection and I was just a guy with the wrong manual.

Totally get that wizard feeling until the tech moves on. I had a similar thing with fixing cassette players, now I just stare at streaming apps like a confused grandpa. Guess we're all just waiting for the next manual to drop.

Man, that wizard feeling fading is the worst, isn't it? But those old relays taught you the real logic, how things actually connect. Isn't all that just hidden inside a chip now? My two cents, start by finding where the real world touches that board, like the wires for the floor buttons or the door motor. It's still just about closing loops and making things move, right? You already know the dance, the music just changed.
