The door close button myth is driving me crazy on every install
I keep seeing guys wire the door close button to actually override the safety edge. That's not how it works and it's dangerous. The button should only signal the controller to close sooner, not bypass the sensors. Last week I had to rewire four cars at a hotel in Denver because someone did this. The inspector caught it during final testing and now they're behind schedule. Has anyone else dealt with this fix on a mod job where the old wiring was wrong from day one?

1000 block in Chicago last year I walked into a hotel lobby and the door close button was wired to a light switch plate. Somebody just painted over it too lol. Took me two hours to figure out why the door wouldn't close at all.

Drives me nuts too. Walked into a site last month where the button was literally wired in series with the safety edge circuit and the tech swore it was "fine." Took me an afternoon to undo all the wrong connections and explain why that hack will crush somebody's foot eventually.
