Can we talk about the 'use a potato to remove a broken light bulb' hack?
I tried it in my kitchen last Tuesday when a bulb broke off in the socket, and the potato just mashed into the glass shards, making a huge mess and leaving me with a sticky, sparking hazard. Had to cut the power and spend an hour carefully picking out bits with needle-nose pliers instead. Has anyone actually made this work, or is it just a good way to ruin a potato and scare yourself?

Oh my gosh, are you okay? That sounds genuinely terrifying with the sparks. I had a similar disaster trying that trick in a lamp once. The potato just crumbled and left mushy starch all in the socket, which felt like it made everything worse. I'm convinced that hack is a total myth that only works on camera for likes. Your method with the pliers after cutting the power sounds like the only safe way to handle it, even if it's a huge pain.

@miakelly proves these viral hacks often create more problems than they solve, right?

Wait, people actually try that potato light bulb thing? That's like asking for an ER visit with extra steps.
