I tried to use a soda bottle as a slow waterer for my plants while on vacation
Saw a video where you poke a hole in the cap, fill the bottle, and stick it upside down in the dirt. Sounded perfect for my week away. I set up five of them for my indoor herbs. Came back to a total mess. The water came out way too fast at first, flooding the pots and spilling dirt and water all over my hardwood floor. Then the holes got clogged with soil, so the plants dried out for the last few days anyway. I spent over $80 on a water damage cleaning kit for the floor, and I still lost my basil and cilantro. Has anyone found a plant watering trick that actually works for more than a couple days?

My neighbor swears by those terracotta watering spikes you screw onto a bottle. What size holes did you try?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I tried the tiny holes first and they clogged in a week. Switched to the bigger ones and it just dumped the whole bottle in two hours. Total waste of time.

Big holes dumped everything, small holes clogged. Sounds more like a pain than a life or death thing. Maybe just water the plants like normal people instead of making a science project out of it.
