My contact paper counter hack left my kitchen in worse shape
I saw this tip online about using contact paper to update old counters without replacing them. I thought it was a genius way to save money, so I bought some and put it on. At first, it looked really good and I was proud of my work. But after a couple days, bubbles started popping up all over the place. I tried to press them down, but they just came back. The adhesive doesn't handle heat or spills well at all, so now it's peeling off. I have to scrape it all off, and the glue residue is a nightmare, lol.

Actually, mine stuck fine after I really cleaned the surface first.

How long has cole82's spot been holding up though? If it's near any moisture at all, that good clean start won't save it from doing what Oscar described.

Did you see those same quick tutorials online? I mean, my friend tried that exact thing in her rental. It looked okay for a week, but then the part near her kettle just wrinkled up from the steam. She had these weird peeling spots by the sink too. Getting the sticky film off was the worst part, it took her like two days and a whole bottle of goo gone. Idk, maybe it's just me but that stuff seems like a trap.
