Question about using a dryer sheet to clean a keyboard

Saw a tip online to wipe down a dusty keyboard with a used dryer sheet. Tried it on my old laptop last month. The sheet left a weird waxy film on all the keys. Now they feel sticky and my fingers slip off. Anyone know how to get this gunk off without wrecking the keys?

My buddy did the exact same thing to his gaming keyboard. He followed @andrew_palmer99's advice with the rubbing alcohol, but used a q-tip dipped in it to really scrub each key. Took him forever, but the sticky film came right off without any damage.

Oh man, dryer sheets are the worst for that. They leave that weird residue on everything. Try a little rubbing alcohol on a cloth, should cut right through the wax.

Actually @andrew_palmer99 I've found dryer sheets work great for wax, they just need a light touch. That residue wipes right off with a dry microfiber cloth after. Rubbing alcohol can sometimes damage finishes on certain surfaces.
