Rant: I tried the 'use a binder clip to hold your phone in the car' trick

It flew off the vent at the first bump near my house, and my screen cracked on the gear shift. Anyone got a better way to mount a phone without buying a real holder?

Yeah, the "first bump near my house" part tells me everything. Those binder clip hacks are only good for a car that never actually moves. Maybe try some heavy duty tape next time, it'll at least break your phone instead of throwing it.

Saw a video about using a suction cup on the dash, maybe try that like @henry_martinez said.

But what KIND of tape? I tried some double sided foam stuff once and it left a nasty film on the dash that took forever to clean. Is there a specific brand that actually holds but doesn't ruin everything?
