Tried the frozen spoon trick for peanut butter stirring, ended up with a bent spoon

I used to just stir peanut butter with a regular spoon and deal with the mess, but last week I tried freezing the spoon first so the peanut butter would stick less. Instead, the cold metal made the jar crack when I pressed down, and now I have a bent spoon and sticky counter. Anyone else tried this and had a worse result than just dealing with the normal stirring?

Read a thing online that said warming the jar in hot water for a few minutes makes it way easier. Tried it once and the peanut butter just slid right out, no bent spoon needed.

Heating it up is genius (works great with honey too if it gets all crystallized). Just don't forget the jar's on the counter when you go to grab it - learned that the hard way.

You know, I've been seeing this whole "heat it up" thing all over the place lately and I gotta be honest, I'm not convinced it's that big of a deal. I mean, yeah, if you're trying to get the last bit out of the jar it makes sense, but for just regular scooping? I've been using a butter knife to dig out peanut butter for years and never had a spoon bend on me. The hot water trick seems like extra work when you could just scrape the sides with a regular knife and call it a day. And honestly, if you're struggling that much with peanut butter, maybe just get the kind that's already runny or the one with the oil on top. I don't know, maybe I'm just old school but I'd rather use a little elbow grease than mess with heating stuff up and potentially burning my hand on the jar like you mentioned.
