Tried using a rubber band to fix my wobbly ceiling fan and now it's making a clicking noise

I saw a video saying you could wrap a thick band around the base to stop the wobble, but after two days it started this annoying click every rotation. Anyone know a better way to fix this without taking the whole thing down?

My rubber band fix also failed, turning a wobble into a rhythmic tap.

I read somewhere that the rubber band trick can actually make things worse over time. The band stretches and then starts slapping against the fan housing with each turn. That's probably your click. You might need to bite the bullet and check the mounting bracket. Sometimes just tightening the screws that hold the fan to the ceiling box can fix a wobble for good.
