Had a wild Tuesday where everything just clicked

Last week I had a tricky laminitic pony that took me three hours to trim and shoe because she kept shifting her weight. Somehow my nippers and rasp felt like extensions of my hands and the shoes fit perfectly on the first try. Has anyone else had one of those magical days where the horse just cooperates and your tools feel right?

Three hours for one trim and shoe sounds like a lot of work even on a good day. I guess if the pony actually stood still and the fit was perfect that's a win, but is it really "magical" or just a normal Tuesday that didn't suck as bad as the last one? I've had days where the tools feel great and the horse is fine, but it usually just means I got lucky with the hoof shape that day.

That 3 hour thing happens to me too when the hoof has some weird shape or the pony is antsy. Quick tip: try trimming the heels first if you're going back for a reset, it saves time on the final fitting.

Oh man, I've been there with antsy ponies and funky hooves that take FOREVER. @abby_black is totally right about trimming the heels first, that trick saved me more than a few headaches on resets. Getting a clean fit on the second pass always goes smoother when you've already got the base shape sorted.
